About the Altar
The organizers shared these words about the altar they will create for this event:
“The purpose of this altar is to reconnect: reconnect with our ancestors (past & present), with nature (immediate & displaced), and our cultural practices through memory, conversation and by using our hands. We intend to do this by making the altar a living offering where community will be invited to paint flowers & memories, leave votive images & break bread together. Whilst we honor the dead with art, food, and tradition we maintain that the living must make gentle the life of this world & mourn victims of disappearances & genocide globally & historically.”
