Our deepest appreciation goes out to everyone who supported The Bronx Museum’s 2024 Gala & Art Auction on March 18 where we celebrated our three stellar honorees: Sanford Biggers, who received the Art + Social Justice Award presented by Julie Mehretu; Samara Joy, who received the Visionary Award presented by Kenny Washington; and Deutsche Bank Americas Foundation, who received the Corporate Philanthropic Award presented by The Bronx Museum’s Board Chair, Joseph Mizzi.

With her GRAMMY-Award-winning and chart-topping album, Linger Awhile, 23-year-old Bronx-raised Samara Joy makes her case to join the likes of Sarah, Ella, and Billie as the next mononymous jazz singing sensation recorded by the venerable Verve Records.

Benefit Auction & Entertainment
The evening’s festivities kicked off with cocktails and live music from the John Benitez Latin Jazz Group. At dinner, the program was emceed by Monica Morales of PIX11 News and Mattos Paschal of Christie’s conducted a spirited live art auction followed by a pledge drive that raised vital funds for the Museum’s education programs. The silent auction, powered by Artsy, featured 21 works by notable BIPOC artists including Leonardo Drew, Baseera Khan, and Hank Willis Thomas, and succeeded in raising funds that directly support the Museum’s mission to make contemporary art accessible and engaging for all people.
At the Gala After Party, guests enjoyed delicious desserts then hit the dance floor where DJ Ethan Tomas kept energies high with an irresistible set of amapiano-infused beats.
