About Local Plants Resource-Sharing
Throughout the afternoon, artist, educator, and ecologist Kim Darling will facilitate fun activities exploring plant knowledge, foraging practices, and access to public food, including: πΏ Aromatic Plants: Engage your sense of smell with natural scents; π Plant Rubbings: Make your own botanical print to take home; π£ Plant Stories Circle: Share memories or traditions tied to plants and growing food; π Harvest Visions: What foods do you want to grow and harvest in your community?
Darling collaborated with artist Mary Mattingly on Mattingly’s project Swale (2016β2020), a floating food forest in NYC. Mattingly’s installation Rooted (2024β2025), a sculpture of living plants that are likely to thrive as the environment continues to change due to human industry, is currently on view in the exhibition Working Knowledge.
You are welcome to drop by, but if you plan to attend, please consider letting us know with an optional RSVP.
About Shared Imaginings
Shared Imaginings at the Museum is a multi-part event centered around the interactive exhibition Working Knowledge: Shared Imaginings, New Futures, and exploring the practice of Social Sculpture, art that seeks to actively engage people in improving the world.
You are welcome to attend all of the activities or drop in for one particular part of the event. We recommend staying for as much of the afternoon as possible to get the most out of this program.
