Submission Specifications
• New York City-based teens ages 13-19 are eligible to submit
• Submissions should respond to these questions: What role do museums play in your life or in your community? What is a way you would like to contribute to a museum as a teen?
• Each person may submit one artwork OR piece of writing. Please fill out complete information for the piece you submit.
• All work must be submitted digitally.
• We will accept hi-res (300 DPI) images of the following types of artwork: Drawing, Printmaking, Painting, Photography, Sculpture, Digital Prints, Poetry.
• For each artwork submission, you will need to include: Title of the artwork, Year the artwork was made, Type of artwork, Materials the artwork is made of, and Dimensions of the artwork
• Creative Writing submissions should be 200 words or fewer, submitted in a PDF
• Files of submissions must be named in this format: LastName_Title (Ex: Shabazz_HarlemWeek.jpg)

The Bronx Museum’s Spring 2026 Teen Council Cohort is seeking artwork and writing submissions from NYC high school students for a zine (a small, handmade, or DIY magazine) that will be published in June 2026. Teen Council is part of the Museum’s Teen Programs, which offer paid arts internships to cohorts of 14 NYC High School Students at a time, with sessions running in the fall, spring, and summer every year.

Inspired by The Bronx Museum’s current exhibition, The Seventh AIM Biennial: Forms of Connection, the zine will explore how museum spaces can foster community. The zine seeks to address two questions: What role do museums play in your life or in your community? What is a way you would like to contribute to a museum as a teen? Teens are encouraged to submit an artwork or a creative piece of writing that speaks to these questions.
